- I cannot say enough good things about this property. The home is beautiful and the landscaping is absolutely stunning. Our family spent a lot of time in the pool. Oscar, the concierge, was very helpful and responsive leading up to and during our stay. The location is perfect, easy to get to many of the main attractions like Manuel Antonio National Park and Dominical, but tucked away and private. - Everything about this vacation was perfect. I have been a travel writer for 10 years and this was the best experience I have ever had. The house was the center of this trip and set the tone for an amazing and unforgettable experience. Oscar the concierge was professional and helpful - always cheerful, so kind and patient, and he helped with everything: setting up a zip line tour, stocking the kitchen, arranging a private chef, you name it, he was on it! Cris the chef became like family to us! We will stay in touch with him forever. He was so talented and went FAR above and beyond to make everything amazing - he checked to make sure we had ice, he did the dishes and even helped clean up - things that he did not need to do. He did it all just out of kindness and without even being asked. The views will blow your mind. The pool was perfect. - Our Second time staying at Lars & Paul’s beautiful home. This home is located tucked away and private but yet the main road is quickly accessible. Dominical is also just around the corner. We always feel at home here. The home is very clean and comfortable, the pool is incredibly warm and private. Secure location in a friendly little town with waving and smiling locals. Oscar is outstanding, no words to describe the excellent service Paradise mgmt & maintenance team is providing 5star + truly! We had many little buggy visitors joining the surrounding of the home at nights which was neat and interesting, we constantly researched what we saw and learned a lot. We saw monkeys almost every evening , listened to the call of the toucan and saw Macaws.The variety of plants and flowers is a real nice addition to the home and if you take your time looking at them you will notice how much passion and creativity goes into the gardening. - This casa is simply amazing! We saw scarlet macaws and toucans were regular visitors. With this amazing spot, even if you do not hear anything, there is always something to see: hummingbirds, iguanas (our daughter even named the female one on the property "Pickle"!), vultures, butterflies, etc. The bedrooms were very comfortable, and the kitchen very well equipped. The pool was perfect all day long, with a set a colorful lights that you can lid at night. Oscar was very helpful, he had a great recommendation for Taco Tuesday in Dominical which was indeed very delicious and he booked our whale watching tour which was also perfect. - The villa was everything and more - exactly as described, peaceful and beautiful with stunning views and a prime location with many options available based on your agenda. We liked that we could spend the majority of the day out exploring and then look forward to heading back to the villa to dip in the pool, watch the sunset and relax. Oscar was a wonderful and extremely responsive concierge, was patient with us when our arrival took longer than anticipated and provided great local recommendations for us. Most of the area takes some time to get to, but this was part of our plan, to take our time and have a relaxing home base to come back to - so typically we’d have a day planned out for one main destination and get ourselves and kids back by dusk-ish, and this all worked out perfectly. With the terrain you are within 1-2 hours’ drive from national parks, waterfall hikes, surfing/beaches, local shopping, and even a family chocolate/cacao farm. We had a wonderful time. - Jane, C.

- My husband, toddler and I had an amazing stay at Villa Azul. The apartment is spacious, clean and comfortable but it is the outside space that is the show stopper. The gardens are lush, attracting a host of bird and other wildlife. We saw hummingbirds, golden bellied flycatchers, cherries tanagers and if you are lucky (like us) an amazing toucan in a tree by the pool. The pool itself is luxurious and very much needed after a day in the sun. The villa is well appointed for exploring the central Pacific coast and nature reserves. As well as the big ones, we recommend visiting the local Hacienda Baru nature reserve and the Alturas nature reserve. - Deborah, W.

- The only regret was not spending more nights here. The pool and views were wonderful, possibly even better than the pictures. On our first evening, we were fortunate enough to see monkeys in the trees on the property and the next day saw two toucans. Leaving the property and driving to Dominical after dark was not an issue. Dominical is a cool little town with a good little mix of restaurants (including pretty good vegan options). Another great thing about this property is knowing you have a concierge (Oscar) that can answer any questions and help arrange whatever you might need. We messaged him in the late afternoon on a Saturday just asking for a recommendation for a place for beginner surfing lessons and he had it arranged that night for the following morning. It was terrific having AC units in each bedroom and the main living area. Pro tip: Do not trust Ggle Maps. It sent us up a really steep mountain drive. Just meet up with Oscar. - To ANYONE reading this… THIS HOUSE IS INCREDIBLE. It is exactly as described, it has dreamy views, totally private, feels secure, and the house itself is very well kept and modern. The pool is an incredible asset as it is definitely warm in Costa Rica! The plantings are exquisite and a joy to look at every day. There is bountiful wildlife, although not invasive, every day. We did not see the monkeys, but the toucan and the iguanas were fun. The tiny chirping geckos on the exterior walls at night were a favorite part for me. It is so fun to hear them and see them scamper around. Hatillo is perfectly situated amongst all of the towns in the area with all of the activities you could want. Oscar is a wonderful concierge and was extremely helpful at every turn. He is definitely an asset for the property. I WILL say the 4x4 recommendation is a must, the driveway is steep, but that is how this house is so private and it is worth the vehicle. - This property was UNBELIEVABLE! The view was incredible. The pool the perfect temperature and sooo refreshing. The house is perfectly laid out for 2 couples. Lars and Paul were amazing hosts. When they found out my partner and I had gotten engaged during our stay, they had a bottle of champagne delivered to the house. I was so relaxed staying at this property. I’m so sad to be writing a review, it means that I’m no longer there. I hated to have to leave. Thank you Lars and Paul for being amazing hosts. - Villa Vista Azul is somehow even better than what is shown in pictures! The cliff side views, infinity pool, and surrounding gardens made it so hard to leave. However, thanks to the concierge (Oscar), it was worth it every time we did leave the house. He is incredible responsive and helps you with every part of your Costa Rican vacation. We cannot say enough positive things about Oscar. The house does have some leaks when it rains and the driveway to get to the house is incredibly steep, so make sure your car has 4WD capabilities. - Villa Vista Azul is an amazing hillside retreat. We watched shockingly beautiful electrical storms from the pool patio and home each night. - Where do I even start about this dream boat of a home we stayed in. Ugh. Magical. I will start with a downfalls, which aren’t many. If you are scared of grasshoppers, get used to them. Because here they are the size of dinosaurs and they are everywhere. You will find many dead ones in the pool amongst other insects every morning. I SO afraid of insects and honestly I have no problems cleaning the pool every morning because everything else was so perfect. If you are sensitive to Sun while you are sleeping, bring a sleeping mask. There are curtains in the bedrooms but they do not go all the way up. But honestly you shouldn’t be sleeping and while you’re here anyways lol And honestly think of those windows are open because at night you can see so many stars and it is breathtaking. Everything else about this home is fat on. It is well equipped with everything that you need. The pool is seriously beyond amazing. All the greenery surrounding is beautiful. Yes, like a money have side you do nee (Website hidden by Airbnb) to get up to the house and down easily and safely. Dominical is such a great little town with everything that you need- restaurants, grocery, the beach, Yoga, coffee, shops etc… OSCAR Was our contact when we were there. He was so fast at communicating and helping and he was AMAZING. We loved chatting with him! We were so unbelievably sad to leave. But we will most up be coming back to Costa Rica. - I will try to give a review that accurately describes this magnificent offering, but words are not enough. We stayed here with our two children (5 & 9) and I cant imagine a better place for our vacation. Here are some highlights: 1. This place comes with an amazing concierge, who is extremely prompt in answering your questions, checking in, etc. We felt totally spoiled, and I believe he genuinely cared for us and wanted us to have a good time. On that note... 2. Often when you travel to a place with a robust tourism industry, there is a push and pull of feeling like locals are glad you are there spending your money, but they also dont want you there taking up space. This is NOT the case in Costa Rica. Throughout our entire stay, I felt like the people who lived there were legitimately happy that we were visiting. Everyone went out of their way to be kind, make things easy, etc. It was wonderful to feel welcomed! 3. The location of this house is, in my opinion, perfect. It is a short drive to groceries, beaches, etc. But it is off the beaten path, in a secure gated and safe neighborhood. The town is sweet and there is a lovely restaurant at the edge of town, plus a couple of mini-grocery stores for quick grabs. There is an endless amount of adventures to be had in this area, as well. 4. The pool is incredible. It had to be the cleanest pool I have ever seen at a rental, hands down. Lounging in the pool looking out at the ocean beyond is phenomenal. The landscaping around the house is well designed and full of vibrant color. More importantly, the plants felt happy! There were lovely birds and butterflies, giant grasshoppers and sweet frogs. It was so fun to go on an animal safari every morning and evening. 5. The house is quite spacious, spotless, and has everything you will need for a stay. The AC is nice and works well, but we did not even use it that much since the house stayed comfortable at night and we were out for much of the day exploring. In short, it is easy to see how much effort went into making and maintaining this space. - Talia, H.

- Villa Vista Azul and Oscar are amazing! This was our first time in Costa Rica so we did not know what to expect. The property exceeded our expectations in every way. Easy to find and access. The pool and house were very clean. The kitchen has everything you need. Pictures may seem awesome, but they do not do the place justice. The view and sunsets are beyond belief. Oscar was the best host! Very friendly, positive, and helpful. Answered every question and request promptly. Helped us schedule activities and checked in through (Hidden by Airbnb) occasionally to make sure everything was going smoothly. I cant recommend this place enough. If there was an option for 6 stars I would give it. The Dominical area is pretty cool too. The town is so laid back and fun. - Colby, H.

- Lars and Paul’s property is nothing short of amazing. Recommend 4x4 to get to the property (it is steep), but very manageable and less scary as you get the hang of it. The pool, privacy and native plant gardens are beautiful. We say capuchin monkeys, lizards, butterflies and exotic birds while staying at the property. Highly recommend if you are looking for a place to stay near Dominical. Oscar from the concierge service was very kind and helpful during our stay. - The location and views are what makes this place so amazing. It has a very comfortable, homey vibe. We absolutely love the area, perfect location. Playa Linda is right down the road and a beautiful place to walk on the beach for hours. We rode horses on the beach, it was breathtaking. We are from Hawaii so most of the beaches we saw in Costa Rica were not impressive but Playa Linda was, very much so. We saw Sloths and Scarlet Macaws and little hermit and sea shell creatures - so cute. There is a restaurant nearby the home (Restaurante y Marisqueria el Ticanero) which served local dishes and they were very friendly with much more reasonable pricing than other touristy areas. This homes location is perfect to travel north towards Manuel Antonio for day trips or south towards Uvita and even west - into the mountains. We traveled from Turrialba to Dominical on Route 2 which was absolutely stunning and I highly recommend if you love the mountains. Dominical is such a cute little town, my husband got a massage at Alegria Spa, he enjoyed it very much. We ate at Fuego Brewing Company (best fish tacos ever), Phat Noodle, Gate One Charter & Tropical Wings Bar/Lounge, and The Aracari Resturant; All recommended. And of course - there is a lovely little supermarket in Dominical and nice one in Matapalo near the beach to buy groceries and cook in the kitchen which was stocked with all the essentials. Lars and Paul s home offered breathtaking ocean views surrounded by greenery, tropical plants and flowers and beautiful skies. We had no problem going up the driveway without a 4x4, that being said, you must be confident in your driving skills (we reversed into the driveway every time as Oscar recommended). Check in was great, Oscar met us at the local restaurant to show us the way. We were asked to provide credit card information upon arrival for incidental damages which I thought was odd being that we booked through AirBnB. The first morning of our stay a family of monkeys passed through which was super cool. A lovely song drew me outside another morning to find a beautiful toucan visiting the property. The humming birds were busy at work in the beautiful gardens along with butterflies, iguanas and super cool insects. We loved being in a more secluded area away from busier towns and the people were so friendly and kind, true Aloha spirit, which the world needs more of. The hot water was on a timer and unfortunately the timing was off almost our entire visit which was a big bummer (no hot water in the evenings only the mornings). Oscar sympathized and did his best to help with that situation, sending someone to reset it but it still did not really fix the problem. The grounds near the pool side are a bit worn and the concrete pavement / paths are eroding a bit. As another reviewer stated, I agree the beds are quite firm and the linens could definitely use an upgrade. - We had a great time at the house. Oscar, our concierge was very helpful and informative. The location was ideal for exploring points of interest in the Dominical and Southern Pacific area and it was a short drive north to Quepos and Manuel Antonio for more activities. The kids loved the pool so much it was hard on some days to drag them away to go exploring. The owners have done a great job with the landscaping. It was fun watching the many visits from a variety of birds including a Toucan couple that we saw every day. One day we saw some Scarlet Macaws in the distance. - Beautiful home located in lush jungle but only 7-8 minutes to main road. It was easy to find and Oscar (with management company) met us for check-in/out. He was super helpful and very pleasant to talk with. The house itself is gorgeous - new and well designed. We cooked a lot and the kitchen had everything we needed. Honestly, this is a house that you might consider not leaving for a few days straight. Nature, quiet and a beautiful view just come to it. Everything was clean and pre-stay information packet accurate and helpful. Plenty to do in area. Wifi signal seemed strong, should you need to work remotely. - This place is absolutely beautiful. The pool is luxurious. Nestled up in the hills for ultimate privacy and everything is very new so you feel like you are experiencing first class all the way. The drive up to the villa is very rough at first but you get used to it. The host, Oscar, is an amazing person and genuinely cares about your well being. We got a private chef for one night and the food was amazing but he bought a lot of extra food so we’d recommend having him show up on the first or second day so you can use the extras. - Our stay at Villa Vista Azul was all that we could have hoped it to be. The villa itself is very modern and comfortable. Nice gas stove with all you need to create meals. Oscar, the concierge checked in on us to make sure everything was to our expectations and that we had everything we needed. Avoid overpacking as the washer and dryer works well. The air conditioning worked very well on the days we needed it. The pool is nice and warm. The views of the ocean from the pool area are so pretty even when there’s overcast. We had many gorgeous sunny days and afternoons even though my weather app showed rain and clouds do not worry about the weather you will have nice sunny days. I prefer to live in the moment but that’s not to say that I didn’t get Instagram worthy photos from the pool. On the property we saw Capuchin monkeys, toucans, hummingbirds galore, dart frogs. I loved listening to the sounds of nature all around me. The view from the villa bedrooms are fabulous. You can see all of the stars at night which is not something I can do at home. The town of Hatillo was so close to Dominical with options to dine at. In particular Cafe Mono Congo has these tasty chicken rolls. They are better than they sound. Next door to the cafe is Mama Toucans here you can get these delicious chocolate chip cookies. Our family had at least 15 of them. My husband loved the sushi in the place next to Mama Toucans. We highly recommended going to Playa Linda which has almost no people there with super soft sand, and Marina Ballena park about 20 min away. It’s gorgeous with awesome views. The villa is an excellent value for the money. Great views, attentive staff, and perfect location. Looking forward to our next trip. - Larissa, Y.

- You cannot go wrong with this gorgeous villa. It looks better then in the pictures, as my teenage daughter said "it feels like a million $". Everything is clean and modern. Kitchen is well equipped. Swimming pool is not only beautiful - it is very functional and provides great relaxation after daily activities. Air conditioner is powerful (and necessary). The vegetation around the villa is lush, very well maintained and is home to all kinds of wild life: we saw a pair of toucans, at least 4-5 species of different little birds, some animal resembling ferret which was hunting and sometimes catching birds, and a very fluffy rabbit. Maintenance was great, unobtrusive and thorough. Property manager, Oscar, went above and beyond his responsibilities, and basically saved our vacation and car during the first day which was VERY rainy. He responded to all texts and questions promptly - it was a great comfort to know that he was always just a phone call or a text away. The villa is very close to Dominical - tons of little stores, great restaurants and beautiful beaches are 10-15 min away. We drove to Quepos and Manuel Antonio multiple times for different activities - it is 30-40 min away very easy drive. We hope return in the future - one of the best locations and properties we have ever stayed in. - Irina, F.

- Stylish modern haven in the midst of covid... gorgeous views, just as pictures and described. We loved our stay and only left the property a few times to go to cafes, beach and groceries in the hippie chill town of Dominical. Beautiful pool and open air indoor outdoor lifestyle. Great design and plenty of space for the two of us. You could have two couples or a family but it would feel a bit tighter. There are only two chaise lounges by the pool, and dining table only seats 4 (although there is a counter with chairs). If you don’t want to get up at dawn, bring earplugs for the birds and an eyeshade for the high uncovered windows. Kitchen is fairly barebones but fine. Would be nice if spices and insect repellant were provided - so wasteful to buy and then toss barely used items. The drive up is an adventure as people have said!! Fabulous friendly very responsive concierge to help with all questions. A wonderful sexy peaceful tropical getaway!! - Ali, K.

- Do not hesitate to book Villa Vista Azul. It is as beautiful as it looks in the photos - even better! My family just spent 3 weeks at the Villa and we were very sad to leave. The space is so well designed and the view is absolutely to die for. Gorgeous sunsets every night, and waking up to the the beautiful ocean and birds every morning. The pool is warm and clean; we were in it constantly. The kitchen is well-equipped and fun to cook in. I do not think that I have ever had a kitchen with a better view! I cannot count the number of birds that we saw while we were there, but scarlet macaws and green parrots were favorites. We also saw iguanas, agouti, and even a family of capuchin monkeys that would visit the trees behind the house around sunset. We cooked dinner at home about 4 nights a week and ate out 3 nights. Dominical is an easy 12 minute drive and we were in and out of town all the time. The two best grocery stores were Mama Toucans (for organic and international foods) in Dominical and the BM (for everything else) in Uvita. There are so many good restaurants in Dominical, Uvita, and Manuel Antonio! We ate very well. While we were here my husband worked full-time and my daughter was in "distance learning" in her school back in Portland, OR. There were occasional blips in the power, but the Wifi was strong and neither of them had trouble doing school/work. We could all be on video with no issues. We brought an HDMI cord to hook up to the TV and had all our favorite shows and movies available that way. We did a ton of activities on the weekends when we were not in school/work: rafting, scuba, snorkel, whale watching, surfing, 4x4 to the waterfalls, paragliding, tour of Manual Antonio Park... There are endless activities within an hour. Oscar, the concierge helped us set up everything and was always on hand for anything we needed. He was super helpful and kind! The groundskeepers, maids, and pool maintenance people were all fantastic and friendly, too. Oscar even arranged for someone to come do pedicures at the house for my daughter and I when we discovered the place in Dominical had closed. Overall, the Villa was amazing and it was a fantastic trip. BOOK IT! - Carrie, R.

- This is a gorgeous vacation home, with the advantage of being high enough on the hill to have an ocean view, but being low enough that the drive is quick and easy. We loved both the layout and the stylish space -- it feels like you are staying in a high-end hotel! The infinity pool is a real highlight; watching sunsets from the pool was just spectacular, and having the ceiling fans on the back deck was so appreciated. The owners have done an amazing job with the landscaping, you are surrounded by gorgeous tropical plants and flowering trees...not to mention the occasional visit from the neighborhood toucans and monkeys! As for the location, it is about a 10-minute drive north to Playa Linda, which is a lovely, uncrowded beach that we really enjoyed. And it is a 10-minute drive south to Dominical, where you find a busier beach and a cluster of restaurants and cafes in the village. The house has tons of windows, which is great, but it does really trap the heat like a solarium. That said, the room air conditioners all worked well, so it is certainly not a problem. Little Piece of Heaven - If you’re thinking of renting this place, just do it! Right now before someone else does! We just spent about a week there with a family of 6 and it was absolutely perfect. It truly is a little piece of heaven. The way Lars and Paul have designed this place is incredible. You feel a part of the jungle but in a luxury house. Bring binoculars and enjoy the many birds flying around. We saw all kinds of amazing little garden birds as well as scarlet macaws and toucans. The house clean, comfortable, safe and the hosts are responsive and have a concierge that will be available to help with anything you’ll need. Wonderful - The house is wonderful!!! It is very nice and new and modern and the view and pool and gardens are stunning. We loved the location (not too far off the main road but very private). The concierge, Ivan, was so helpful and a great communicator. He waited for us even though we arrived late on our first day. And he answered allllll my questions prior to and during the trip very quickly! We enjoyed watching the sunset from the pool. We saw lots of birds and even some toucans around the house in the trees. We loved having a kitchen and did a mix of eating in and out all week. They had things like salt and pepper, coffee filters, zip loc bags, garlic powder and a few other spices. Also great WiFi. Suggestions for your trip: have the chef come prepare a meal or two for you. We did this mid-week for dinner but wish we would’ve done it earlier bc we had lots of yummy leftovers like guacamole and pico! We enjoyed having massages done at the house (arranges by Ivan). There are lots of great restaurants in Dominical! And the best beach was Dominicalito- go for the day and walk, sit in the shade of the trees by the beach, rent a surfboard, get a smoothie at the little restaurants by the beach! It was amazing. Lots of great shells and just gorgeous! We rented a 4wd- for sure need one in CR. Also, we flew into San Jose and went to Wal Mart to get food basics then got other stuff locally near the house. Might be smart to pack a soft sided cooler and get some cold stuff to bring on the drive to the house.... there is so much to do in that area between Uvita and Quepos- fishing, hiking, waterfalls, animals... we cannot wait to come back! Stunning property amazing views - We entered the property and it was exactly like pictures shown very clean contemporary look the outside view is breathtaking . We saw a few white face monkeys in trees near property which was great We were welcomed by concierge , excellent communication via WhatsApp. We did our grocery at supermarket in dominical , 10 minutes away, prior to arrival. The villa is fully furnished with few spices and coffee . Pool guy and gardener and cleaning lady came by during our stay keeping the place well maintained. Near many restaurants, beaches and 45 minutes from Manuel Antonio park, 30 minutes from Uvita. The property is equipped with insect repellant devices which seemed to work. Our 2 kids loved the place as well and we all enjoyed the pool. Great stay. - Julie M

Dreamy Home - Dreamy home in the hills and nestled in the town of Hatillo. The pool, the view, the bedding, beds and sofas are first rate! We arrived early in the morning and Ivan was there to greet us after arranging our lovely taxi from the Sun Jose airport. Great activities close to the house: Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary is a must!! You will see 2 resident sloths, tons of monkeys and learn a lot about how Costa Rica fights to protect wildlife in the rainforest. Hacienda Baru is a beautiful preserve to see wildlife in its natural habitat a few minutes from the property and Nauyaca Falls are 20 min away and an amazing hike with the proper shoes (you can go alone and park with a 4x4 or book a horse ride or a truck ride) Uvita beaches are beautiful and less congested than Dominical beach. Dominical restaurants are amazing for sushi, breakfast and dinner! You will need a 4x4 for the house and Ivan can arrange to have one delivered. Ivan also arranged for a chef to come to the home on New Years Eve and it was so with it. The food was amazing and he even cleaned the kitchen at the end of the evening. Privacy with magnificent view - This property is beautifully situated on top of a steep hill overlooking many miles of hills, beaches and the ocean. The villa is very well equipped with comfortable furnishings both inside and out. Kitchen well equipped with everything one would need for a short or long visit. Beautiful pool with lots of privacy and beautifully manicured garden. There is a locked gate at the foot of the hill leading to the house for the few houses on the road. Excelente e impecable! - La ubicación es muy buena pues a Quepos queda a sólo 20 minutos en auto, Dominical a 10 minutos y uvita a 20 min. Las cataratas Nauyaca también están muy cerca. La casa es muy tranquila y segura, los monos nos visitaron una mañana y los observamos desde el jardín, también se pueden observar aves y el paisaje es increíble. The location is fantastic-- you are close to everything! - The house itself is a little small (for a family of 6), but spectacular, it wont feel like there is only one common space because it is so open. The windows make this home worth it. The two full bathrooms are great (one is a jack and jill). The only downside: extremely firm mattress and pillows, but if you dont mind this, you will sleep amazingly well. The quiet setting is perfect for some relaxation. Also, note, you should get a 4X4, it is a steep climb up, and for those who dont want to go uphill on a narrow stretch of road, this might not be the place for you, but then again, Costa Rica requires it. So if you are looking for adventure, you should expect to find it here. - Laura U.
